Working For Hoosiers
Ron Alting works tirelessly for our communities, listening to our concerns and ideas, and brings a collaborative approach to help solve our local and statewide challenges. Because of this, Ron has been recognized as the Legislator of the Year seven times.
All Hoosiers deserve a first-class education, and Ron is proud of his role in helping increase funding to support our teachers and schools. As a Purdue graduate who worked while paying his own way through college, Ron knows the challenges students face with costs and is working to help solve this. Because of Ron’s leadership on education issues, both the Indiana State Teachers Association and the American Federation of Teachers have endorsed him.
Ron has been a leader in passing pro-growth policies that has made Indiana a national leader in job creation with the lowest unemployment rate in the Midwest. Ron will continue to promote opportunities to help Hoosiers bridge the skills gap needed to compete in a tougher, global environment.
Drugs are destroying our communities, and we need more leaders like Ron who authored one of the first-in-the-nation legislation prohibiting the sale and manufacture Spice. We need to provide treatment options to help those currently struggling with addiction, while enforcing tougher penalties that keep drugs off our streets and dealers in jail.
Ron has been a leader in the statehouse in honoring and supporting our veterans. He’s received the Indiana American Legion’s Distinguished Public Service Award four times, the most of any legislator. Ron authored legislation establishing the Indiana Veterans Homelessness Assistance Fund and the Gold Star License Plate commemorating Indiana’s fallen heroes.
